EscAPAde is an all-day prospective students day event held specifically for accepted Asian/Asian Pacific American (A/APA) students. There are many activities planned during the day such as student and faculty panels, guest speakers, and a cultural showcase (please see schedule below). EscAPAde offers an excellent opportunity for prospective Asian & Asian-American students to meet current students and experience the A/APA community here on Grounds. EscAPAde 2018 will be held on Sunday, April 8th.
Please note that there is a cap of 70 spots for this event, so it will be a on a first come first served basis. You will be notified if you receive a spot, and there will also be a waitlist, if you do not. Also note that there are a limited number of spots available for hosting should you choose to stay overnight. Though participants are strongly encouraged to stay overnight with a current UVA student in a first-year dorm or residential college, staying overnight is not required to participate in EscAPAde. If you are staying overnight, we suggest that you sign up for the Days on the Lawn session on April 9th, as we will expedite your DOTL check-in process during EscAPAde.

Directions and Lodging

The University of Virginia is located in Charlottesville. US Route 29 cuts right through Grounds. For further directions, go to http://www.virginia.edu/Map/. For lodging, prospective students have the option of staying with student hosts in first year dorms or apartments on Grounds (Alderman Road and McCormick Road dorms). Parents may take their pick from any of the hotels in Charlottesville. The closest ones to Grounds include the Cavalier Inn, Econo Lodge, Days Inn, and Quality Inn. For further information, go to http://www.virginia.edu/placestostay/.

Where to Park

We recommend parking in the Central Grounds Garage, located adjacent to the UVA Bookstore and Newcomb Hall. Parking is free only on Sunday. If you plan to stay overnight, you will have to pay for parking on Monday. However, you can move your cars to Ivy Parking Garage on Monday since parking is free for those attending Days on the Lawn. If you leave your cars in the Central Grounds Garage, there is a $2.00 hourly rate. We do not recommend leaving your cars in the Central Grounds Garage overnight.

What to Bring

Prospective students should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes, toiletries, and a towel. You should also bring cash (dinner will be provided, but lunch will be up to your student host) and anything you may want to do during your scheduled free time.
